39 Olamide Refusing to Pay for International Features
Date: August 2016
Olamide is not only an incredible artist, but also a role model for the Nigerian youth. He is very proud of his country and exhibits this pride by wearing traditional attire and rapping in pidgin and Yoruba. He also is prideful in the sense that he feels African artists are good enough to stand toe to toe with international artists. With that being said, Olamide proclaimed that he will not pay for any international features. His rationale is that international artists should recognize the talent of African acts, which should be enough for them to request a feature pro bono or quid pro quo; he mentions that Baba Fela never paid for an international feature and artists of today should do likewise.
